Ty Barnes

Ty Eric Barnes, age 61, of Jurupa Valley, California, passed away on August 1, 2026. Ty was a man who left a lasting impact on everyone he met—always kind, friendly, funny, and genuinely impossible not to like. Ty was born on June 15, 1965. He spent his early years in Columbia City, Indiana, a place he always remembered fondly. He loved sharing stories of playing in the snow with neighborhood friends, the excitement of Old Settlers Days, summer fireworks, and he never forgot the love of his beloved childhood babysitter, Aunt Dean. As a youth, Ty and his family moved to Riverside, California, where he attended Sierra Middle School and Ramona High School. It was during these years that his mother, Lorretta Barnes, encouraged his passion for music by getting him into the drums. Ty thrived behind the drum kit, playing for the Ramona Dynasty Band, jamming in friends' garage bands, and eventually co-founding his own band, Lipstick Tattoo. While he was highly involved in school and played several sports, music was his true heartbeat. Through school and his bands, Ty forged deep, lifelong friendships that he nurtured and kept close for the rest of his life. In his early twenties, while working at Stater Bros. Market, Ty met the love of his life, Melissa. The two were married in 1988 and shared 38 beautiful years of marriage, building a home and a legacy of love. Ty became legendary during his Stater Bros. night crew days, where he spent late nights throwing grocery loads, blasting his favorite music, and singing at the top of his lungs. Together, Ty and Melissa built an incredible circle of lasting friends at Stater Bros., many of whom they still loved catching up with while shopping. Ty’s greatest pride was his family. He was an exceptional, devoted father to his two sons, Cory Anthony Barnes and Brend Isaiah Barnes. He was always there for his boys, offering unwavering support, guidance, and friendship. Ty is survived by his loving wife, Melissa Barnes; his sons, Cory Anthony Barnes and Brend Isaiah Barnes; his mother, Lorretta Barnes; his brother, Richie Barnes; his favorite niece Amanda Traylor, and a vast community of friends who will forever miss his rhythm, his laughter, and his generous spirit
