Julian Adrian Moss Jr

Julian Adrian Moss, Jr., called “Sonny” as a child, and later known as “Ade,” was 94 years old when he went to be with the Lord, on June 26, 2026. He was born on December 18, 1931, to parents J.A. “Red” Moss, Sr. and Bernice Opal Moss, in Indio, California. He attended Riverside Poly High School and graduated with a BS in Economics from San Diego State College in 1954. After graduation, Ade served three years in the United States Air Force. He graduated from Flight School and was assigned to Multi-Engine School in Enid, Oklahoma where he graduated and received his pilots’ wings. From there he was sent to Rantoul, Illinois where he received an engineering degree in aircraft maintenance. His first child, daughter Robin was born soon after. He was then sent to Luke AFB in Phoenix, Arizona where he had great success managing a squadron of 75 F-84 jet fighters, and two squadrons of 150 jets to maintain, until his release from the Air Force on August 28, 1957. He returned to Riverside to go into the car business with his father. He sought further education with the Chrysler Corporation, and began managing “Moss Motors, ” a Dodge dealership in Riverside. Ade’s sons Jay and Glenn were then born to he and his first wife, Diane. In 1975 Ade remarried Jean Oaks who had two sons - Scott and Tim. They lived on a ranch in Riverside that was the original “Riverside Dairy. ” Ade’s passion was caring for 100 head of Herford cattle and racing quarter horses. Weekends were spent feeding, doctoring, and birthing cattle, mending fences and having a wonderful time with his family! Ade then worked with his father to the develop the Riverside Auto Center. It was the first Auto Mall in the United States. Visitors came from around the globe to see the Center and discuss its concept. Ade was a member of Sigma Chi fraternity, The Riverside Exchange Club, Riverside Motor Car Dealer Association, the Dodge Dealer’s Advertising Association (as President) and a member of the Dodge Dealer’s Advisory Council (as President). He worked closely with Lee Iacocca on a national level, during Chrysler’s most challenging years. Ade retired in 1989 but never stopped going to the dealerships to lend his support, and to interact with the employees. He was always a very caring “people person.” At the age of 71, Ade accepted Christ into his life, inspiring him to be involved in all aspects of his faith. He considered himself to be truly born again. Tragically he lost his son Jay in a sand buggy accident on March 12, 2004. It was completely devastating for the entire family. Ade’s strong faith helped him through that difficult time. His son, Glenn, has since taken the lead in the family business, and excelled in developing the Moss Bros. Auto Group. The group currently has eight dealerships with a total of eight hundred and seventy-five amazing employees. Ade said that living with faith and having God at the helm, made his life an awesome one! He is survived by: Daughter Robin and children Chad and fiancé Jeanette, and sons, CJ and Aidan, Jonathan and wife Susan, and daughter Chelsea and fiancé Zach. Proceeded in death by son Jay, his family includes children Shamala and husband Matt, children Mark, Jacqueline, Lily and Vince. Jeremy and wife Heather, and son Travis. Jayson and wife Brooke, and children Rooney, Rowynn, Rorrey and Julian. Jaymi and husband Mike, children Kaydence and Brantley. Son Glenn and wife Gigi and children Jeri and husband Eric, daughter Vaughn and son Anders. Casey and husband Shawn, and children Collins, Davis, Ellis, Grace, Owen, Madisyn and Oliver. “GL” and wife Kimmery, daughter Avina, and son Sonny. Stepson Scott and wife Jenifer and children Tifani, Trevor and Tesa. Stepson Tim and wife Teri Oaks, and children Nathan, Nolan, Natalie and Nevin. A Memorial Service will be held on Tuesday, July 7th at Calvary Presbyterian Church, 4495 Magnolia Avenue, Riverside Ca 92501
